Insanemom.com is for parents looking to share in the joys, trials and humor of raising children. As a mother of two children, a nearly 4 year old boy and a nearly 1 year old adopted girl (as of this writing, spring 2007), I want to document and share my life experiences.
Hello there! I left a message on your husband’s site as well, and just now noticed yours. My husband and I are just beginning the process of adopting from China, but are facing a couple of problems: mostly, the wait times are becoming terribly long (estimates of 3-4 years are being thrown around these days), but also, we have a strong connection to Japan, but just never thought it was possible to adopt from there. My sister has been married for the last 9 years to a Japanese man, and they have three kids and live in Yokohama. We go to visit them once or twice a year, and so, seeing your blogs made me excited about the prospects of changing our country to Japan! Could you possibly tell me a little bit about the fees involved and the timeframe? From what I have found online, the wait is relatively short, but cost estimates are varying widely… I am also hoping that our connection through my sister would be enough for the Japanese officials, since we’re not actually Japanese (does it count if we are in our hearts?
)
Anyway, any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated!
PS, congrats on both your son and your daughter
Beth
